George Double - Drums

George, our Gentleman Drummer, is pictured here with his evil cat. Somehow surviving his chapel choir days unscathed, teenage George immersed himself in the jazz world and quickly reached the national finals of the Daily Telegraph’s Young Jazz Competition, before going on to read Music at the University of Nottingham.

George’s extensive West End and touring credits include Guys and Dolls, Avenue Q, Sinatra, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Anything Goes, Annie Get Your Gun, Chasing Fate and Godspell.  He has worked for EMI, Polygram, London and Talkin’ Loud records, Jack Jones, Kym Mazelle, Claire Sweeney, Matthew Herbert, Mark Flanagan and the British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, and is always in demand as a session player. He has performed on radio sessions for John Peel and Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 1, Paul Jones on Radio 2, Sean Hughes, Robert Elms and Gideon Coe on BBC London and XFM.

George considers himself an expert on service station pasties, having consumed far too many on his way to and from gigs.  He lives in domestic bliss in rural Suffolk with his devoted wife and children, and aforementioned slightly evil cat.
