Jonathan Giles Moss - Double Bass

BMus (Hons) (TCM), LRAM, PGDipRAM

Jonathan found the double bass by accident in a cupboard, while trying to learn the ‘rather scratchy’ violin.  He thought it looked rather fun, and went on to study performance at Trinity College and later the Royal Academy of Music, learning with Chi Chi Nwanoku MBE, Robin McGee and Duncan McTier.

Jonathan now divides his time between his two great musical loves – euphoric ceilidh events for crowds of be-kilted raucous Ladies and Gentlemen, and seldom-heard opera of the 18th century.  When not on stage, he can generally be found on the phone organising weddings, private parties and corporate events with his usual panache and attention to detail.

Jonathan owns several shiny double basses in varying shapes and colours, which satisfies his inner child.  He mostly drives around the country, occasionally getting out of the car to perform with Ceilidh Generation, Urban Soul Orchestra, Alfie Boe, Il Divo, Bampton Classical Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, London Handel Orchestra, The Sixteen, The English Consort, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and Orchestra of St Johns. Alternatively, he’ll happily just disembark at any motorway service station displaying the M&S logo.
