Moss Freed - Guitar

BMus (Hons)

You could say Moss takes his music pretty seriously.  After studying composition and performance at the University of Edinburgh, he was headhunted by the Berklee World Tour and took up a much-coveted place at Berklee College of Music in Boston, assisted by a generous scholarship from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. There, he studied with Jon Damian (Bill Frisell), Mark Whitfield (Sting) and Marc Rossi (George Russell), earning a place on the Dean’s List.

An enterprising individual, Moss has founded a number of his own ensembles, including The Libertus Chorus, Jazz @ Silver Apples, The Original Collective and The Moss Project, signed with Apsara Records. He’s also a regular at high-profile venues and festivals, such as Matt and Phred’s, the Vortex, V Festival, Shetland Folk Festival, Spraoi Festival, Moseley Folk Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

When not making guests gallivant down the dance floor with Ceilidh Generation, Moss can be found composing film music, examining for RockSchool and lecturing in harmony and composition at the University of Salford.  In his spare time Moss enjoys DIY, chocolate-covered raisins and philosophy.
